What mountains are in the Sahara Desert?

There are two main mountain ranges in the Sahara Desert:

* The Tibesti Mountains, located in the northern part of the desert in Chad, the northernmost country of sub-Saharan Africa. The Tibesti Mountains feature a number of volcanic peaks, including the highest point in the desert, Emi Koussi (3,415 m).

* The Ahaggar Mountains, located in the southern part of the desert in Algeria. The Ahaggar Mountains are a series of volcanic massifs, with the highest peak being Tahat (2,918 m).
