The Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport (GPT) became a civil airport in 1949 after being built to train bombers for World War II. It now has five major airlines that fly out of the airport, and is one of four Combat Readiness Training Centers in the country used by the Air Guard and Reserve. Gulfport-Biloxi International Airport also has a cargo base for domestic and international air cargo.

United Through Reading allows a service member to read a book out loud and be recorded. The recording, book and a personalized note are sent to the service member's family from a number of locations around the world. The USO also offers a lounge where service members can rest and relax, as well as providing a variety of refreshments.
