North Florida Airports

Traveling to or from the northern section of Florida by airplane gives travelers several choices concerning flights. Airports in the western Panhandle, in the capital city and on the Atlantic coast allow travelers to reach any destination with relative ease by flying into one of these convenient facilities. So whether you are trying to get to the nation's oldest city of St. Augustine, flying in to see a Florida State football game or you want to hang out on the famous white sand beaches of the Panhandle, there are airports nearby.
  1. Jacksonville International

    • Jacksonville International Airport is northern Florida's largest airport. Providing service to more than 6 million passengers annually and hosting more than 200 daily arrivals and departures, this facility dwarfs the volume of its north Florida competitors.

      This airport is located within minutes of downtown Jacksonville and offers a full range of services and amenities. There are more than a dozen restaurants within the airport, another dozen or so retail shops, live musicians, arcades and movie rental services. The airport also has an art gallery.

      The airport works with more than a dozen major airlines and several regional carriers that provide nonstop flights to major American cities and offer connections to international destinations.

    Tallahassee Regional

    • Tallahassee Regional Airport is a 2,700-acre facility located seven miles southwest of the state capital. Passengers traveling within northern Florida and parts of Georgia and Alabama can find flights on regional carriers leaving Tallahassee. The facility also offers flight lessons and is a general aviation airport for private aircraft coming to the area.

      Tallahassee Regional Airport offers tours of the facility and has a lost baggage service.

    Beaches International Airport

    • Northwest Florida Beaches International Airport is the newest international airport in the United States, as of 2010. This facility opened its doors on May 23, 2010, in Panama City Beach as a hub for those wishing to visit northwest Florida's popular tourist beach areas.

      As of 2010, the new airport is only working with Southwest and Delta Airlines. They provide daily flights nationwide to and from this popular portion of the Sunshine State. Beaches is also considered one of the nation's "greenest" airports, having been built to conform to the strictest environmental standards in the industry. The airport is built along the coast near St. Andrew's Bay on 40,000 acres.
