Commuter Airports in North Carolina

Whether you're visiting North Carolina for business or pleasure, or live in the state, you may wish to avoid the two major airports: Charlotte and Raleigh-Durham. If you're going to one of the lesser-populated areas of the state, using a commuter airport can save you the hassles of dealing with long security lines, crowded terminals and numerous flight delays. North Carolina has small, regional airports serviced by commuter airlines throughout the state.
  1. Wilmington International Airport

    • Wilmington International Airport is a small, one-terminal airport served in 2010 by US Airways Express, Delta Connection and Allegiant Air. The airport does not offer international flights, but plans to expand in the near future according to its website. Within the passenger terminal, there are eight gates, a lounge, a deli, a newsstand, a gift shop and an information center. The airport also has capacity for chartered commuter flights for business aviation or pleasure. Due to its location on the Atlantic coast, this airport is an emergency airfield in the event a space shuttle has to abort take-off.
