Visit a travel website such as Flightwise or iFly. Navigate to the airport locator tool. Look for a section such as "Find Closest Airport." Enter the city and state or ZIP code of your destination then click "Find" or "Search." Look at the list of search results for the name and distance (in miles) of the closest airport.
Go to the official municipal website, Chamber of Commerce website or official tourism website of the city or region you're visiting. Navigate to the Visitors section. Look for a section containing information on the city or region's airport or airports, which should include location and distance from the center of the city or from major roads.
Visit an online map site such as Google Maps or MapQuest. Enter a town or city and state in the boxes provided. Include "airport" in your search terms if you're using Google Maps. For MapQuest, type in "airport" in the "Find Businesses" box located above the address boxes. Submit the information to see a list of local airports. Select an airport, click "Directions" and enter your destination address to find the distance between your destination and the airport.
Consult an offline source of the area you're visiting, such as a tourism book or detailed map. A tourism guide should include the airport's distance from the center of the city or from major routes. Use the distance key shown on the map to calculate how far the airport is from the town or city you're visiting.
