Why are there no tropical rain forests in North Africa?

North Africa is largely covered by the Sahara Desert, which is the largest hot desert on Earth. Deserts are characterized by extremely high temperatures, scarce rainfall, and a lack of vegetation. Tropical rainforests, on the other hand, require high temperatures, abundant rainfall, and high levels of humidity to thrive. The climatic conditions in North Africa simply do not meet the requirements for the formation of tropical rainforests.
