Why is it that central asia has few large cities?

There are a few reasons why Central Asia has few large cities.

* Geography: Central Asia is a vast region, but much of it is covered by desert, mountains, and other inhospitable terrain. This makes it difficult for people to live in large numbers in these areas.

* History: Central Asia has a long history of political instability and conflict. This has made it difficult for cities to grow and develop.

* Lack of resources: Central Asia is not rich in natural resources. This makes it difficult for cities to develop economically.

* Cultural factors: Central Asian cultures traditionally place a high value on rural life. This has discouraged people from moving to cities.

As a result of these factors, Central Asia has few large cities. The largest cities in the region are Tashkent, Uzbekistan (pop. 2.3 million), Almaty, Kazakhstan (pop. 1.8 million), and Ashgabat, Turkmenistan (pop. 1 million).
