Who Was the "First King of Asia"? Myth vs. History

The title "first king of Asia" is a historiographical construct with no basis in historical fact. Asia has never been a unified polity. In ancient Mesopotamian tradition, Sargon of Akkad (reigned c. 2334–2279 BCE) is sometimes mythologized as the first ruler to claim dominion over "the four quarters of the world," including lands later termed Asia. However, his empire was limited to Mesopotamia and parts of the Levant and Anatolia. No historical figure ever ruled the entire continent.
