When did Islam reach Oman?

The introduction of Islam to Oman started in the 7th century when Omanis became familiar with the new faith through contacts with Muslims in the Arabian Peninsula. The first people of note to convert to Islam were the Azdi tribes living in the interior of Oman. Their conversion came about as a result of a friendly agreement with the Prophet himself. The Azd tribes did not need to fight for their faith as they were willing to join it peacefully. It was not long after that the Al-Julanda bin Mastan bin Masud of the Azd tribe was asked by the Prophet to take the Islamic message to Oman. Thus, in 630 AD, Al-Julanda became the first Omani Muslim missionary and the first Omani ambassador.
