Who is in charge of Thailand?

The Kingdom of Thailand is a constitutional monarchy with a King as the head of state and a Prime Minister as the head of government. The current King of Thailand is Maha Vajiralongkorn, also known as King Rama X. He ascended to the throne on 1 December 2016, succeeding his father, King Bhumibol Adulyadej (King Rama IX). The Prime Minister of Thailand is Prayut Chan-o-cha, who has been in office since 2014. He is the leader of the Palang Pracharath Party and was previously the head of the National Council for Peace and Order (NCPO), a military junta that took power in Thailand following a coup d'état in 2014.
