What events happened in China during 105 AD?

In 105 AD, several significant events occurred in China:

- Revolt of the Three Qiangs: Chinese military forces launched a punitive campaign against the Three Qiangs, a group of nomadic tribes who inhabited areas in present-day Gansu and Sichuan. The government established defensive structures along the Longxi and Wudu commanderies to protect the region.

- Ban on Trade with the Xiongnu: Emperor An of the Han dynasty imposed restrictions on trade and economic interactions with the Xiongnu, a nomadic confederation bordering China's northern frontier. This policy aimed to weaken the Xiongnu and consolidate the Han Empire's control over its northern territories.

- Construction of the Wuyuan Palace: Emperor An ordered the construction of the Wuyuan Palace, also known as the Weiyang Palace, in Chang'an, the capital city of the Han dynasty. It served as a prominent architectural feature and imperial residence during the Han period.

- Diplomatic Missions: Several diplomatic missions were exchanged between China and foreign countries during this period. Notably, the Han court received missions from states like Shule (in the Tarim Basin), Khotan (Xinjiang), and Rome, demonstrating China's expanding diplomatic reach.

- Emperor An's Health and Succession: Emperor An's health deteriorated during this time, and the issue of his succession gained prominence. Empress Yan Ji took control of the court and exerted her influence over state affairs, while powerful court eunuchs also sought to manipulate the succession in favor of their chosen candidates.
