The broadgilled hagfish is a scavenger fish that eats mostly dead worms and fish. It looks like an eel, and unlike most fish, its body doesn't have scales. The broadgilled hagfish's body produces a large amount of slime, and the fish can tie part of its its body into a knot and run the knot down the length of the body to remove the slime. These fish grow up to about 83 centimeters long and can live at depths of 300 to 700 meters. It lives off of the coast of southern Queensland and southern New South Wales.
