The capital city of Malaya is Kuala Lumpur. It has been the capital city of independent Malaya since 1957 when the Federation of Malaya gained independence from the British. After the formation of Malaysia in 1963, which included the states of Malaya, Sabah, Sarawak and Singapore, Kuala Lumpur remained as the capital of Malaysia.
