Why did Japan invade countries in Asia?

1. Economic expansion: Japan was a resource-poor country with a rapidly growing population, and it sought to secure access to raw materials and markets in other parts of Asia.

2. Imperial ambitions: Japan had a long history of militarism and expansionism, and it saw the colonization of Asia as a way to increase its power and influence in the region.

3. Pan-Asianism: Many Japanese people believed in the idea of Pan-Asianism, which held that all Asian countries should unite under Japanese leadership to resist Western imperialism.

4. Revenge: Japan had been humiliated by its defeat in the Russo-Japanese War (1904-1905) and by the Western powers' refusal to treat Japan as an equal. Japan sought to avenge these defeats by conquering other Asian countries.

5. Anti-Western sentiment: Japan was resentful of the Western powers' domination of Asia and sought to overthrow their colonial rule.

6. Military opportunism: Japan took advantage of the chaos and instability in Europe caused by World War I to launch its military campaigns in Asia.

7. Nationalism: The Japanese government used nationalist propaganda to stir up patriotic sentiment and support for its military campaigns.
