Customs Regulations for Belarus

The Republic of Belarus is landlocked and bordered by Russia, Poland, Latvia. Lithuania and Ukraine.The capital city, Minsk, is home to 1.8 million people, and country has 9.7 million residents, according to the official Belarus website. Belarusian and Russian are its two official languages. Belarus has a rich cultural history and outdoor attractions that appeal to many tourists. Visitors to Belarus must abide by its customs regulations when entering the country.
  1. Customs Declaration

    • Everyone who enters and/or exits the Republic of Belarus must fill out a customs and goods declaration form. These forms may be provided on the airplane or train, or they may be available at the airport or train station. You must list any goods bought in Belarus that you're taking outside the country or list any goods, aside from personal items, that you're bringing into Belarus. The official website notes that visitors to Belarus are allowed to bring 35 kg of luggage (about 77 pounds) into the Republic, with a value of up to 1,000 euros (about $1,300). Any possessions beyond the limits are subject to a duty tax of 30 percent and not less than 2 euros per kilo.

    Duty-free Limits

    • Belarus restricts the import of certain items. Alcohol, including some beer, is restricted to 2 liters, and a person may not bring more than 200 cigarettes or 200 g of tobacco into the country.
      Only five pieces of jewelry are allowed per person.
      Belarus also restricts the amount of food one can bring into the country to 5 kg per person.

    Money

    • While there is no limit on the amount of money you can bring into Belarus, you are required by law to declare any amounts over $10,000 on your declaration form.

    Forbidden Items

    • There are certain items travelers are always forbidden to bring into Belarus, according to the official website. These include firearms, military equipment, radioactive and explosive substances, narcotics and poisons.
      If you wish to bring a plant or an animal into Belarus, you will need specific health and/or veterinary certification prior to entering the country.
