Book a train ticket in advance at your hotel in Xi'an for the cost of the ticket plus a service charge of about $5. You can also book through a travel agent. Book tickets at the China Rail ticket window in the Industrial and Commercial Bank of China. The ticket window is on the second floor of the building.
Pack your bags in advance and make sure that you have all travel documents organized and easy to reach. This station usually runs right on time.
Arrive at the Xi'an train station and pick up your tickets. You will leave from the Xi'an Railway Station. The station is located in Xi'an Railway Station Square, on Jie Fang Road.
Get some sleep on the train. The overnight train from Xi'an To Chongqing takes 13 to 15 hours and costs an average of 120 RMB (about $15) for the hard sleeper and about 190 RMB (about $24) for the soft sleeper.
