Halal Chinese Restaurants in Malaysia

Food.malaysiamostwanted.com lists different types of popular restaurants in different parts of Malaysia, categorizing these into non-halal and halal eateries, at the same time listing their best dishes. Included in the list are 13 Chinese restaurants offering halal food, most of them located in the capital city of Kuala Lumpur. It is interesting to note that a number of other ethnic restaurants with halal food are listed, including Thai, German, Italian, Indonesian, Korean, and American.

Zheng He Dim Sum
- While some Chinese halal dim sum places in Kuala Lumpur and Petaling Jaya are located in hotels and are expensive, the dim sum in Zheng He is not at all expensive. Prices per dim sum order range from 3.20 to 5.40 malaysian ringgit or U.S. $1 to $1.75 (2010 prices). Favored orders include siew mai king, black pepper siew mai, loh mai kai, barbecue chicken pau, thai fish cake, salad prawn, malat chicken and floss roll. Also popular are the Zheng He fried rice and butter prawn rice. Zheng He is open at 10 a.m. every day, closing at 11:30 p.m. from Sundays to Thursdays and at 1 a.m. on Fridays, Saturdays and public holidays.

Chynna
- Chynna is a busy and noisy fine-dining restaurant at the Hilton Kuala Lumpur. Innovative and authentic dishes are offered in a replica of an ancestral hall from the Tang Dynasty, surrounded by wall hangings and lanterns on high beams. Open daily from noon to 11 p.m., soft lighting, red cushions, and black table linen dominate the interiors. A tea master starts off meals by pouring tea from a teapot with a meter-long spout. An open dim sum kitchen and bar are the sources of food and drinks listed in three menus: a la carte, dim sum set lunch and dim sum a la carte. Popular choices include wok fried black pepper beef tenderloin cubes with jade kale and cashew nuts, braised shark's fins, or wok fried butter prawn with milk, chili and scented curry leaves.

China Treasures
- This restaurant, one of two exclusive dining facilities at the Sime Darby Convention Centre, offers halal Chinese cuisine in an elegant and relaxed atmosphere. Private rooms for four to forty people are available. A brunch buffet is offered for 33 Malaysian ringgit or about U.S. $10 (2010 prices). Chef's specialties are the Peking duck and beef cubes with black pepper sauce. Other popular dishes include prawn dumplings, crispy egg noodles with seafood (sang mee), yang chow fried rice and dual-vermicelli with seafood. Ample parking is available on the convention centre's premises.
