Do Tasmanian Devils Live Outside Tasmania?

In the wild, only in Tasmania. Mainland Australia lost them ~3,000 years ago. However, conservation efforts have established:

• Insurance populations in zoos and wildlife parks across mainland Australia (e.g., Devils@Cradle, Trowunna, Healesville Sanctuary).
• Maria Island (off Tasmania): 26 devils released in 2015; thriving, disease-free population.
• Planned mainland reintroductions: In large, fenced, predator-free reserves (e.g., Barrington Tops, NSW).

These are managed populations; no self-sustaining wild populations exist outside Tasmania yet.
