How much rice is produced in Australia?

In 2021, the total Australian rice production was estimated to be around 1.05 million tonnes. The majority of this production comes from the Riverina region of New South Wales, which accounts for around 95% of Australia's rice production. Other rice-producing areas in Australia include the Murray Valley in Victoria and the Ord River region of Western Australia. The production of rice in Australia is highly dependent on irrigation, as the crop requires a lot of water.
