Early life
Huyser was born in Los Angeles, California, and attended Granada Hills High School.
Career
Huyser began her acting career in the mid-1970s, and gained prominence in the 1980s with her role in the adventure fantasy Red Sonja (1985), which starred Brigitte Nielsen as the title character. She subsequently starred in a number of other action films and science fiction films, including The Barbarians (1987), The Curse (1987) and Alien from L.A. (1988).
Throughout her career, Huyser has also appeared in various television series including Fantasy Island (1978), The Dukes of Hazzard (1979-1983), Magnum P.I. (1982), The Equalizer (1988), Knight Rider (1988), Matlock (1989), Murder, She Wrote (1989) and Star Trek: The Next Generation (1990).
In the late 1990s, Huyser joined the cast of the science fiction television series Stargate SG-1, portraying the scientist and physician Dr. Jessica Wade for all 10 seasons of the show (1997-2007).
Post-Stargate career
Since concluding her run on Stargate SG-1, Huyser has continued to act, primarily in independent films and television movies. She has also provided voiceover work for animated films, including the films The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning (2008), Barbie in A Mermaid Tale (2010) and Barbie in A Mermaid Tale 2 (2012).
In addition to her acting career, Huyser is also an accomplished singer and songwriter. She released her first album, Dream Time, in 1999, and has since gone on to release several other albums.
Huyser is married to actor and director Michael Hurst. They have two daughters.
