What does the premier of Queensland do?

The Premier of Queensland is the head of government of the Australian state of Queensland. The premier is also the leader of the Labor Party in Queensland, and is elected by the members of the Legislative Assembly of Queensland. The premier has a number of responsibilities, including:

* Leading the government and setting its agenda

* Representing Queensland in national and international forums

* Chairing cabinet meetings and taking decisions on government policy

* Appointing and dismissing ministers

* Recommending the dissolution of parliament and calling elections

The premier also has a number of ceremonial duties, such as attending official functions and receiving dignitaries. The current premier of Queensland is Annastacia Palaszczuk.
