The city of Victoria, located on the southern tip of Vancouver Island, was named in honour of Queen Victoria. The city was founded in 1843 by the Hudson's Bay Company and was initially called Fort Victoria. In 1862, the city was officially incorporated and renamed Victoria in honour of the reigning monarch.
Queenstown, New Zealand
Queenstown, located on the South Island of New Zealand, was named in honour of Queen Victoria. The city was founded in 1860 and was initially called Queenstown in honour of Queen Victoria's husband, Prince Albert of Saxe-Coburg and Gotha. However, in 1862, the city's name was officially changed to Queenstown to reflect Queen Victoria's own regnal name.
