How did Christmas island in nova Scotia get its name?

Christmas Island is located in the Indian Ocean, not in Nova Scotia, Canada. It got its name in 1643 when Captain William Mynors of the East India Company ship Roebuck, came upon the uninhabited island on Christmas Day.
