Legal Age to Move Out in Alberta, Canada

In Alberta, the age of majority is 18. At 18, you can legally leave home without parental consent. Exceptions:

• Still in high school? Some parents/guardians may require you to stay until graduation (not legally mandated but may affect support).
• Disabilities/special needs: May require supported living arrangements.
• Child protection: If under 18 and unsafe, contact Child Intervention Services.

Before moving, plan: housing, income, healthcare (AHCIP), ID, banking.
