How to Obtain a Passport Size Picture

If you have an international trip planned you will need a passport for the travel. Trips between Canada and Mexico and the United States now require passports for the border crossings. The US State Department requires two 2-inch by 2-inch photos with each passport application. There are many options for getting these photos.

Instructions

  Stand next to a white or light colored wall. Have an assistant photograph you from the neck up along this white background.

  Download the photo from your camera to your computer. Download photo manipulating software such as Go Soft, Photoshop or other such programs. Crop the photo down to a passport size dimension -- 2 inches by 2 inches is the US standard.

  Place the photo paper into the printer and print out the photos. Cut them down to size and bring them to the passport application office.

  Go to stores such as Kinko's/FedEx Office or Walgreens. Tell the store clerk you wish to get photos for a passport. They charges a small fee for the two photos. They will photograph you, cut the pictures to size for the passport application and put them in a safe transport envelope.
