Obtain legalized copies of your birth certificate from where your birth was registered. Legalized birth certificates are processed by the Central Electoral Board and The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic.
Take your passport photos. Three photos measuring 2x2 are required for processing your passport application. Postal services do not offer passport photo services. Many online applications allow you to process your own passport photos. Photos must have a neutral background and your face must be clearly visible. Women must cover their shoulders in the picture.
Take the passport photos, legalized birth documents and cedula to your BanReservas to pay your application fees, or impuestos. BanReservas are financial institutions located in the Dominican Republic.
Take your legalized birth documents, passport photos, cedula and receipt from BanReservas to Direccion General de Pasaportes. Wait lines are divided into people born in the Dominican Republic and people born outside the country. It is important you are in the correct line for proper processing. Submit your documents and prepare for fingerprinting. Upon completion of processing, you will be given a receipt. For Dominicans living abroad, turn documentation into your local Embassy for processing. Contact your issuing agency for the fee amount.
Return to Direccion General de Pasaportes in a week with your receipt and original cedula to receive your passport. Same day delivery is available for an additional cost. Embassy-processed applications require approximately three months processing time.
