Locate the nearest Dominican consulate or office. The Dominican Embassy in Washington D.C. maintains a list of its U.S. consulates and their contact details. There are consulates in Miami, L.A., Chicago, New Orleans, Boston, New York, San Juan and Mayaguez (Puerto Rico), and at the main embassy in Washington, D.C. If you are outside the U.S., a list of Dominican consulates is available on the website of the Dominican Republic Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The site is in Spanish, but should be navigable for English speakers.
Go to a photographer and have passport photos taken. They must be 2 inches on a side and in color.
Bring your photographs and your valid Dominican passport to a consulate during business hours and pay any fees they ask for. Your renewed passport should be ready in between 20 minutes and 1 hour.
Locate the nearest passport office. Ask at the local police station if you are unsure of which office to go to. The Interior Ministry does not have an up-to-date directory available online. English speakers could contact a Dominican mission in an English-speaking country for instructions.
Visit the office with your valid passport, fees and photographs.
Provide a home address. Your passport may be processed on the spot or may be mailed to you.
