Make an appointment at the US consulate in Kingston. Appointments can be made online through the US State Department website. (See Resources 1) If you are applying for more than one person, there should be one appointment made per applicant. If you cannot make it to your appointment, cancel it ahead of time. There is no charge for making or canceling appointments. If you are applying at the Montego Bay consular office, no appointment is necessary.
Fill out the DS-82 application. (See Resources 2) Ensure that you print legibly using black ink. Illegible handwriting may result in a delayed or rejected application. It is also possible to fill out the application online and print it out when you finish. (See Resources 3) Scan through the online application to ensure accuracy before printing.
Ensure that your most current US passport is undamaged. If your passport has been damaged, you will not qualify for passport renewal and US consular services in Jamaica will require you to apply for a new passport. You must submit your most current passport when applying for renewal and it will be returned to you with your new passport.
Double check the condition of your government-issued photo identification. Undamaged military IDs, driver's license and government employee IDs are acceptable.
Take two passport-sized photographs. The photos should measure 2 inches by 2 inches, should be identical and taken in front of a white background. No hats, sunglasses or facial coverings should be worn and they should have been taken within the past six months.
Staple one photograph to the DS-82 application. The staples should be flat and there should be one on each corner of the photo. Save the other photo to submit with the application.
Prepare your fee. As of 2010, a passport renewal application at the US consulate in Jamaica is $110 (USD). The consulate accepts cash in US and Jamaican dollars, traveler's checks, money orders and credit cards with a photo I.D. Bank checks are not accepted.
Gather all necessary application items and apply at the consulate during your appointment time. Ensure that you have the completed DS-82 application, most recent passport, government-issued photo identification, two passport photos and your fee.
