Visit the Civil Registry's Office (Registro Civil) where the birth certificate is registered.
Provide the following information: Birth certificate record number (if available,) date of birth, full legal name, parent's full legal names, date of registration (if known) and place of registration. An unofficial copy of the birth certificate is ideal.
Pay the fee for a certified copy. The rates depend on the town, city or state. There's usually a more expensive same-day service fee, or a cheaper next-day service fee. Most Civil Registry offices only accept cash payments in Mexican currency.
Write a letter and give legal permission for another person to pick up copies of the certified birth certificates for you if you're unable to go. The letter must have an original signature and can't be scanned. The person must have a valid Mexican identification, such as a voter registration card or a Mexican passport. You must provide a copy of photo identification that matches the signature on the letter.
