Saskatchewan's Population and Density: Canada's Most Sparsely Populated Province

As of 2021, Saskatchewan's population is estimated at 1,178,374. With a land area of ~651,036 km², its population density is 1.81 people/km² — the lowest of any Canadian province.

Population is heavily concentrated in the south, especially in the cities of Regina (capital) and Saskatoon (largest). The north remains sparsely settled, with small towns, Indigenous communities, and resource-based settlements scattered across boreal forest and shield terrain.
