How to Visit Niagara Falls, Canada With Children

Niagara Falls, Canada is more than just a very large waterfall. As a premiere family vacation destination, there's enough for the whole family to do.       Just because you have to eat doesn't mean you have to miss the falls. Dine at Table Rock. This restaurant, which has an extensive children's menu, but also plenty of a selection for adults, is located right beside the Falls. The spectacular view will keep the kids entertained while the adults enjoy their meal or a drink.

      See the Falls at night. The falls are illuminated every night of the year (times vary). The falls are lit in shades of rose pink, red magenta, amber, blue and green. And on select days in the summer, the falls are the setting for free fireworks. See Resources for a schedule.

      Take a boat ride to the base of the falls. Maid of the Mist is a thrilling half hour boat ride where guests receive ponchos and prepare to be soaked. The Maid of the Mist, which has provided boat tours since 1846, operates from spring until October 24. See Resources for cost and schedule.

      Journey behind the flls. Take an elevator, located at the Table Rock House, which drops you 151 feet through solid rock. Once behind the falls, guests can get up close to the falls and view it through portals and behind railings. Again, prepare for a soaking as you walk onto an outdoor deck to give you an even closer view. Rain ponchos are provided. See Resources for cost and schedule.

      Plan ahead to make the most of your time and keep the kids from getting impatient. Table Rock restaurant accepts reservations. Pan on arriving at the falls shortly after sunrise to avoid crowds for the Maid of the Mist and the Journey Behind the Falls.
