Dog Sledding Trips in Canada

Travel by dog sled has been part of Inuit culture in Canada's northern territories for 4,000 years. More recently, dog sleds powered exploration to the North Pole and the Yukon gold rush. However, you do not have to travel to the far north to experience your own dog sled adventure. Several dog sled touring companies operate nearby popular Canadian ski and snowboard resorts.
  1. Snowy Owl Sled Dog Tours

    • Snowy Owl operates out of Canmore, Alberta, with transportation from Banff National Park in the Rocky Mountains. Offering summer and winter tours ranging in price from $30 to $149, as of 2010, Snowy Owl promises a "gentle and invigorating workout" and a "positive life-changing experience." Snowy Owl also bills itself as the only operation that will teach tourists to drive the dog sled. A bonfire and warm snack are part of the tour.
