Canisbay Lake is located within Algonquin Provincial Park, which is one of the oldest parks within the province of Ontario. Camping, canoeing, swimming and kayaking are allowed on the lake. Other activities include hiking amongst forests, near rivers and near cliff faces. Animals in the area include moose, beaver and a number of bird species. The lake is heavily wooded and wide in its expanse. There are also beaches along the shoreline, and areas along the shoreline are shallow. Visitors can canoe or kayak to mini-islands in the lake. Summer and fall are popular times of year to visit.
