The Falcon: Proud National Bird of the UAE

The United Arab Emirates' national bird is the Peregrine Falcon (Falco peregrinus), a fitting emblem for a nation rooted in Bedouin heritage and modern ambition. Here's why the falcon soars as a symbol:

1. Cultural Icon: Falconry, practiced for millennia, is a UNESCO-listed intangible heritage, reflecting patience, skill, and kinship with nature.
2. Native Resident: The peregrine is indigenous to the UAE's deserts and mountains.
3. Embodied Virtues: Strength, speed (over 240 km/h in a stoop), courage, and keen vision mirror Emirati values.
4. Conservation Priority: The UAE protects falcons through strict laws, breeding programs, and a dedicated falcon hospital in Abu Dhabi.
5. Global Ambassador: The falcon appears on the UAE's emblem, currency, and airline livery, representing the country worldwide.

More than a bird, the falcon is a living link between the UAE's past and its soaring future.
