How windy is in Puerto Rico?

The trade winds blow consistently across Puerto Rico all year long, contributing to the island's tropical warmth. The average wind speed varies from 8 kilometres per hour (5 miles per hour) on the south and west coastlines to 24 kph (15 mph) on the north and east.

The strongest wind speeds are experienced during the months of December and January, when cold fronts are more likely to pass over the island. Tropical cyclones are also responsible for occasional high wind speeds, especially between the months of June and November.
