Who is Dinamicos of Trinidad?

Dinamicos of Trinidad is a steelpan-driven calypso, Latin and jazz ensemble who have been performing in Trinidad and Tobago and internationally for over 25 years.

Formed in 1989, the band plays a range of Trinidadian musical genres, including calypso, parang, soca, and stickfighting, as well as Latin music, including son, salsa, bolero, mambo and cha-cha-cha.

In addition to their Trinidadian and Latin American musical influences, Dinamicos also draw upon jazz, rhythm and blues, Indian, and African music.

The band was formed by musicians and arrangers Kenneth Clarke and David Rudder, who were known previously for their work with Charlie's Roots.

Dinamicos of Trinidad toured the United Kingdom in 1994, including two performances at the Barbican Centre in London, and the Netherlands in 1996.

The group has released nine albums—three live and six studio—plus a greatest hits album.

In 2015, Dinamicos began performing monthly shows in Port of Spain under the banner of "Strictly Roots".

In May 2022, Dinamicos of Trinidad received the Caribbean Hall of Fame Award.
