Where does a rift valley form?
Rift valleys form at the boundaries of tectonic plates, often along mid-ocean ridges or continental rifts. They occur where the Earth's crust is being pulled apart, causing the land to sink and forming a depression. Tectonic forces, such as plate movement, mantle plumes, and crustal extension, are the driving mechanisms behind the formation of rift valleys.
