What does ibiza mean?
The name "Ibiza" is of Phoenician origin and is thought to derive from the word "ibsim" or "ibzim", which means "island of Bes". Bes was the Egyptian god of music, dance and fertility, and was worshipped by the Phoenicians. Alternatively, the name may come from the Phoenician word "i-boshim", meaning "island of the god Astarte".
