What does mon mean in Jamaica?
The word 'mon' is a shortened version of the word 'man'. Jamaicans use the word mon to address a male person, or as an indication of friendship or familiarity towards someone. It can also be used as a term of endearment, such as in the phrase "mek mi buss ya mon". In Jamaican Patois, the word mon is also used to refer to a group of people or to oneself, as in "weh yuh deh man?" (where are you man?).
