Book your zip line tour through your hotel or one of the links provided below. Whether you are on St. Lucia for just a day excursion or staying at a local hotel, the tour will set up transportation for you. If you have your own car, simply have the tour operator provide you with directions.
You really do not need anything specific for the tour other than comfortable clothing and walking shoes. The operators provide waist and chest harnesses, helmet , hair net and gloves. The hair net may seem trivial, but it is to keep the line from pulling your hair.
Professional guides will help you into your equipment. There is one harness you will step into and another that goes over your shoulders like a vest. You will be clipped in three (sometimes four) locations to the line.
When it is your turn, step up onto the platform and you will be connected to the line. You will then position your body as if you are in a recliner with your legs crossed at the ankles. You place your dominant hand behind you and loosely take the line. (This will act as a brake.) With your other hand, you will be holding the harness.
The first line is not very long; it gives you the opportunity to get used to it. There are a total of 10 platforms, each with varying lengths to give you a good ride. (Number of platforms vary with each operator.) After this first ride, you will be more cognizant of the surrounding beauty and less concerned about the fear of heights or safety.
Let the guides explain the local foliage to you. You will have a rare opportunity to see birds that are native to St Lucia, and a myriad of trees such as mango, papaya, banana, cocoa, mahogany, cinnamon, cashew, almond and star fruit. Even the most skeptical adventurers come away saying the zip line was the best experience of their life.
