Trinidad's Manzanilla Beach on the east coast is unlike other Trinidad beaches. It is a 20-mile stretch of brown sand beach facing the Atlantic and home to much wildlife. Manzanilla is not isolated, but definitely off the beaten path. Beach houses can be rented at the northern end of the beach where there are also small hotels. Manzanilla is less than two hours from the Port of Spain.

Port of Spain is the busy center of the island. Visit attractions such as Ft. George, the Botanic Garden and the National Museum and Art Gallery. During Carnival, stop in at the mas camps where costumes are designed and the pan yards where the music is rehearsed. The Trinidad cuisine is enjoyed in the city's many restaurants. A sampling of the West Indies cuisine includes the spinach-like callaloo, jerk chicken and roti.
