How did Reunion Island Become World Heritage?

Reunion Island's natural history was so remarkable that in 2010 UNESCO recognised two of its peaks, the Pitons, cirques and remparts, as a World Heritage Site, calling it ‘an exceptional natural laboratory to study volcanic phenomena.
