Where does the Atlantic ocean start?

The Atlantic Ocean is bordered by North and South America to the west and Europe and Africa to the east. It is generally defined by the International Hydrographic Organization (IHO) as extending from the Arctic Ocean in the north to the Southern Ocean in the south, and from the coasts of North and South America in the west to the coasts of Europe and Africa in the east.
