🗺️ Southwest Region Definition (Census Bureau)
- Arizona — 113,990 sq mi
- New Mexico — 121,590 sq mi (actually larger!)
- Oklahoma — 69,899 sq mi
- Texas — 268,596 sq mi (often considered separate "South Central")
⚠️ Important Correction
New Mexico (121,590 sq mi) is larger than Arizona (113,990 sq mi). The original statement was incorrect. If "Southwest" = AZ, NM, OK, TX → Texas #1, NM #2, AZ #3. If "Southwest" = Four Corners states (AZ, NM, UT, CO) → NM largest. Definitions vary.
Always clarify regional definitions when comparing state sizes.
