Countries That Did Not Establish Settlements in the Americas: Bhutan, Chad, Eritrea, and Others

Many nations never created colonies in the Western Hemisphere. Examples include:

• Bhutan
• Chad
• Eritrea
• Guinea-Bissau
• Laos
• Libya
• Micronesia
• Nauru
• Qatar
• Tonga

Colonization was largely driven by Atlantic-facing European powers (Spain, Portugal, France, Britain, Netherlands) and later the U.S./Russia (Alaska/Fort Ross).
