Cuba Didn't Expel U.S. Companies—The U.S. Imposed an Embargo

Cuba did not get rid of American companies. Instead, the United States imposed a trade embargo on Cuba in 1960, which restricted American companies from doing business with Cuba. This embargo remains in place today.
