Jewish ghettos were mainly established in Nazi Germany and German-occupied territories during World War II. Poland was one of the countries that had such ghettos, where the Jewish population was segregated and forced to live in overcrowded and unsanitary conditions. The largest Jewish ghetto was in Warsaw, where hundreds of thousands of Jews were confined before they were eventually deported to death camps.
