States Bordering Nigeria’s Federal Capital Territory (FCT)

The Federal Capital Territory (Abuja) is landlocked and shares boundaries with four states:

• North: Nasarawa State
• West: Niger State
• South: Kogi State
• Northwest: Kaduna State

Context

The FCT was carved out of parts of these states in 1976. Abuja became the capital in 1991, replacing Lagos.
