Germany does not have a vice-president; its deputy head of government is the Vice-Chancellor. Since 8 December 2021, Robert Habeck has held this position while also serving as Federal Minister for Economic Affairs and Climate Action.
The Vice-Chancellor stands in for the Chancellor when necessary and coordinates cross-departmental policy, particularly on energy transition and economic resilience.
