The average temperature in the winter is in the low teens Celsius or 50s Fahrenheit. In summer, the average is in the mid to high 20s Celsius or the high 70s to low 80s Fahrenheit. Barcelona conjures up images of beaches, not snowmen, but the city does actually get a light flurry of snow on average about once a year. The hilly areas around the city, however, are more prone to icing over, and the snowy Pyrenees ski resorts are just a short drive away.
Humidity levels in Barcelona remain high year-round, with percentages staying in the low 70s even in the winter. The levels can get uncomfortably high, around 75 to 79 percent, during August and September. Be sure to book a hotel with air conditioning if traveling to the city during those months.
Winds stay generally light in Barcelona, but the winter can bring some windy days, and March and April are the windiest months of the year. The most problematic are the easterly winds, called Levante, which can bring rough waves to Barcelona's port.
